ShapeFest is not one random blob pack. It is a huge, deliberately consistent family of rendered objects.

Most free 3D illustration packs give you twelve blobs, one rainbow and a hand pointing at absolutely nothing. ShapeFest has gone completely overboard in the best possible way.

Joseph Todaro built a huge library of polished 3D objects, symbols and scenes that can drop into websites, presentation decks, social graphics, animation and print. The free downloads are useful on their own, and the licence covers personal and commercial projects. Browse ShapeFest.

The consistency is the secret

The individual images look good, but the real value is that they belong together. Camera angles, lighting and materials are kept consistent, so you can combine several pieces without the page looking like it raided three different stock sites at 2 am.

There are soft shapes, glassy objects, metallic symbols, clay-style forms and plenty of pieces that can carry a headline without becoming the headline.

Free is not the same as unlimited

The standard site offers free assets, while ShapeFest All Access sells organised high-resolution packs. The FAQ allows commercial use and colour editing, but it does not allow you to repackage the artwork and sell it as your own asset library. Fair enough.

For print, check the resolution before getting carried away. The paid packs advertise 3000 × 3000 pixel files; a smaller free render may be perfect for a website card and disappointing on a large poster.

Use one object, not seventeen

The danger with a library like this is treating it like an all-you-can-eat breakfast. Do not put a shiny torus, a glass hand, three hearts and a floating planet on the same invoice template.

Pick one shape that supports the message, recolour it to suit the layout and give it some space. Used with restraint, ShapeFest can make a plain design feel properly art-directed in about five minutes.
